What we collect
- Account information — email address, display name, and date of birth (used only to confirm you meet our minimum age).
- Profile information you choose to add — bio, avatar, ZIP code, nearest Hwy 17 crossroads, street and cross street.
- Content you post — feed posts, comments, hazard reports, mesh node listings, and directory recommendations.
- Payment records — subscription status and identifiers from our payment processor. We never see or store your full card number.
Location precision
Street-level address fields are never exposed to other members. Maps display your area at reduced precision, and hazard and mesh node locations honor the precision setting chosen by the person who created them.
How we use it
To operate the community features you signed up for: showing your posts to neighbors, placing you in the right ZIP and crossroads groups, surfacing hazards near you, managing membership, and moderating content.
We do not sell member data. We do not run surveillance advertising. Sponsor placements on the site are not targeted using your personal data.
Age
Hwy17 is not intended for anyone under 16, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Sharing
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the site: our hosting and database provider, our payment processor, and the news and mapping services that power those features.
Retention and deletion
You can delete your account at any time from your profile. Deleting your account removes your profile and the content attached to it. Some records may persist in backups for a limited period, and moderation records may be retained where needed to enforce our terms.
Your choices
You control what appears on your profile, whether you register a mesh node, and the precision of the locations you submit.
